First Impressions: rereading Six of Crows!

This couldn’t come at a worse time for me: I have to read 1984 for school and should have my presentation steady and ready to go (was my quote correct?!) in three weeks with a lot of other things on my mind. Then on Saturday morning while I was peacefully sipping my tea and reading 1894, I had the incredible urge to start rereading Six of Crows that very minute. And I did.

Reading this the first time was mind-blowing and no one will go against me here (or at least the better part of the bookish community). But who would have thought that reading it for a second time, after knowing the ending and all of Leigh Bardugo’s fabulous twists and turns would be just as gripping and magical? Certainly not me. I had expected it not to be boring, on the contrary, awesome – but not up to this point.

Reading it for a second time makes me grasp so many new details I overlooked the first time, not knowing the characters and their histories. Just as it did with rereading Harry Potter, this feels like returning home and welcoming all the characters you hold so dearly.

Once again, the writing and the created atmosphere are amazing and I can’t wait for the actual action to start again: I’m currently on page 140, Matthias is sketching the Ice Court and they are about to go onboard the boat and start their journey!!!

I’m hoping to finish it soon (also to continue reading for school), I’ll keep you updated! Happy reading!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.

  1. I actually don’t remember SoC a lot… it’s Crooked Kingdom I’ve listened to multiple times and know it in and out because I love it so much… maybe I should listen to SoC as well and see how I feel now 😊😊😊

      1. Ya I can see what you mean.. but I think I was more interested in getting to know the characters better and I loved all their backstories in CK..

  2. Oh a first impression of a reread is super interesting! Remembering all the things you forgot and getting totally blown away again is the best feeling. I can’t wait for the day I finally settle on picking up SoC again, it’s certainly gonna be an adventure!
