Top Ten Tuesday: Signs you’re a book lover!

I haven’t posted a Top Ten Tuesday in a while and today’s an excellent topic: signs you’re a book lover – well, I’ll list the signs I notice about people/ myself!

#1 You love exploring book stores

I get excited every time I discover a new bookstore – especially on vacations, it can get very intense and some of my family members get annoyed when I spent a huge number of minutes exploring, discovering and have my nose in books. If you can spend an indefinite number of hours exploring a book store – you’re definetely a book lover!

#2 You never go on vacation without books to safe the day

Either I take at least two books on the trip, or I rely on a good bookstore where I can stack up – just in case. My trip to London two years ago was basically me binge-reading Six of Crows which I had just bought there. My family would go to the pub and talk and eat while I would quietly sit next to them, eat and then take out my book – don’t worry, I didn’t miss out on all the cool things though! But if you’re taking a book, just in case, you’re a bookworm!

#3 Rearranging your bookshelves feels great

I have to rearrange my bookshelves at least once a year because I feel so accomplished afterwards. My bookshelves are my favorite part of the room and therefore they have to look good, not to please anyone, but to be happy with myself. So if you love thinking about where to put which book, which books deserve the “best shelves” and which can be put on the lowest shelf – then yes, you’re probably a book lover!

#4 You love inspecting other people’s bookshelves

Whenever I’m invited to people’s houses and they have many books – I will look at them and talk about them. It’s the best feeling when the other person really engages and you have a random conversation about “that one book you loved”!

#5 You never seem to have enough space for your books…

If you were to enter my room right now, you’d know what I mean: I have three bookshelves, they’re full, and somehow I manage to have stacks of books everywhere in my room. They’re either not sorted because I no more space, I took them out because I want to read it soon or someone gave me the book and said I have to read it (whoops). My best Christmas present last year was a new bookshelf and that means something – if you’re excited about things like bookshelves, you’re a book lover!

#6 You always read the book first, then the movie – never the other way around!

There’s such a big controversy about books and movies, but if you always try to read the book first and feel that the book is better than the movie – yep, you’re a book lover!

#7 You always ask people what their last-read book is

I always ask my friends what their last book was about, whether they liked it and usually also what people’s favorite book is whenever I meet someone new – I love to get inspiration and recommendations from others!

#8 You get excited each time a new book comes out!

Do you count the day until that one book comes out, do you have a little notice in your calendar and are you the first to order it or run into the store to get it? I do that haha! I get excited every time the date comes around!

#9 You have fictional crushes

Well, I guess Queen of Air and Darkness speaks for itself. You have fictional crushes and like the characters more than the people around you (obviously not everyone and I very much love my friends haha!)

#10 The cherry on top: you write a blog!

Well, this is pretty obvious: to everyone writing a book blog – you’re a pretty HUGE book lover and I think you know it!

Well, here were my ten signs for being a book lover! Tell me, which ones are the most accurate and what are the signs for you – feel free to comment! Happy reading!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.

  1. Jane… this is just perfect 👌
Except the fact that I do watch the movies first sometimes 😜😜😜 I agree with everything else…
And OMG, that first point is so relatable… every new vacation spot, I’m looking for the local bookstore… thankfully my husband hasn’t gotten fed up of that habit of mine yet 😂😂😂

    1. Thanks sooo much! And me too haha when I’m not in the mood to read the book but am really interested in the story haha! And hahaha thank god that would have been tragic, usually when I go on vacation with my parents, my dad’s habits are the same but my mom is always soo annoyed and then goes looking for a cafe and waits there while we explore the bookstores haha!

      1. My husband obviously loves it more when the bookstore itself has a cafe so that he can browse for a little while and then relax… I think I just wore him down by insisting in always taking me to a bookstore for years 😂😂
