Bookstores + Libraries I’d love to visit – Listed!

All I wanted to do this morning is go to a great, maybe cozy bookstore and just spend hours in there going through thousands of books and then maybe end up buying one. But since I’m home and have been at my local bookstore millions of times, I can’t do that. So what’s better than to write a Listed! post with all the amazing bookstores and libraries I want to visit, whether I’ve only heard of them or actually discovered them already!

Shakespeare and Company in Vienna

Bookstores from the floor high up to the ceiling, reachable by ladders. A small, cozy room filled with English books: from fiction, to politics and economics, classic editions and cookbooks. In one tiny room in the middle of Vienna’s centre.

Waterstones on Regent Street in London

It’s an understatement to say that I love this bookstore. It is, by far, my favorite place to buy and discover books. The love for detail and design is so special here, everything is thought through and the options are overwhelming. And then, after buying so many books, you can drink a tea and eat a piece of cake in their cute, arty café downstairs! And it’s in London and I have not missed anything so much during this pandemic than my time there.

Book Passage in San Francisco

The Book Passage Travel Writers & Photographers Conference ...

Located in the heart of the Ferry Building at San Francisco’s Pier, the Book Passage is one of the cutest stores I have ever seen. A big, spacious room with a café attached that serves amazing ice tea!

WH Smith in Paris

wh smith bookstore paris - Google Search | Will smith, Paris

Located in the heart of Paris, this bookstore makes you feel like you’re in Britain all over again! So many British goods, snacks and tea! And, of course, the Penguin classics editions!

Oxford Union Libary

Oxford Union Library on Twitter: "The library will be closing at ...

My dream, one day, is to study at Oxford University. And look at this library, I would spend all my hours in there. I am so sad I didn’t get to go inside when I visited Oxford two years ago because that would have been spectacular!

That’s it – I think I’d have enough books right about now! Tell me, where’s your favorite bookstore and why do you love it? Happy reading!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.

  1. Great list, though I have to say I do prefer Foyles over Waterstones in London. Foyles is so much more personable, I would say. Have not even heard of Shakespeare and Co branch in Vienna, that’s news to me, thanks very much for the tip!

  2. Oh my gosh I was in Vienna last fall and didn’t even realize that Shakespeare and Co was there! Ugh, guess I’ll just have to go back! Love this post, I hope you get to visit all of these one day! xx

    1. Thanks so much! And oh noooo, but I am like that ALL THE TIME, wherever I go: I don’t find the best spots, and then later read all the things I could have done, had I found them… happy reading!
