It’s been quite a while, I have had no time to write, post or read any real book over the past days, so I guess here we are: me lying in bed on the evening before my last school day and finally managing to write something as it’s my only free evening. What you’re in for: everything that’s going on in my life, what I’m reading/will read over summer, and my overall plans for August and the start of September (also in regard of my senior year)!
The months of June and July

Since we don’t have a lot of Corona regulations anymore where I live, I was fortunate enough to spend tons of time with my friends: we went to dinners, made s’mores and went to the pool. It’s been such a weird year, but I’m immensely grateful to spend so much time with my friends, as I know it’s not possible in so many places at the moment!

I did a small get-together to celebrate my birthday (pretty late, due to corona) and my best friend baked this amazing cake for me, so hit her up if you’re ever in need of a birthday cake: they don’t just look fabulous, they also taste amazing!

Hear me out: don’t compare it to the cake before. Me and my best friend baked a Sacher torte (a orginal chocolate cake from Vienna, super famous) for my other best friend as she’s originally from Vienna and has been missing her home lately – super difficult recipe, requires a LOT of time, but to be fair, it also tasted awesome!
My current reading situation:

Still in the middle of Sapiens (though a few hundred pages further down the road!). I usually read one non-fiction book as well as another for fun (fiction, then) and so I had to pause for a few days to get some rest. My plan: pick this up by the pool next week!

I power-read Save Me last week, and it was fabulous! I’m currently in the middle of the sequel, Save You – but I don’t think it’ll be as good as the first book, to be honest. It started a bit slow and I’m not sure I like the character development and focus of the book, but we will see!
The Room Where It Happened – next read!

My English teacher gifted this book to me today?! Like what? I actually wanted to read this for quite some time, I saw it at the bookstore many times and read the synopsis and knew it was super hyped – but it’s so expensive and so I never actually got it for myself. But now: I have to read it – I have been wanting to read something about Trump for a very long time, and even though I don’t agree with Bolton’s political view, I am interested in what he has to say, especially about the White House’s atmosphere and how it feels working for a man like Donald Trump.
My summer plans!

I’m going hiking to Austria with my parents later this week until Sunday – I’m super excited, we do this every year and it has been a family tradition since the sixties!

After hiking, I’ll spend two weeks at my grandma’s house in Vienna and will hopefully have tons of time to visit Shakespeare and Company, and of course: to eat Schnitzel!
That’s it – I love writing posts on my current reading, but also life situation! Tell me: what are you up to this summer, what are your reading plans? Happy reading and for those of you whose summer break starts this week: only a few more days to go and then have a great summer!
The cakes look DELICIOUS. And ooh, hiking in Austria sounds fun!! I hope you have fun💜
