Top Ten Tuesday: Holiday Reads

I’m already in the Christmas spirit, made dates with two of my besties to watch Christmas movies (we’re going for The Knight Before Christmas because it’s now out on Netflix!), bake cookies and decorate gingerbread houses – so that’s gonna be fun! I also love to read holiday themed books during Christmas, or reread certain beloved series to get cozy – so here are my favorite holiday reads, I hope I’ll get around some of them this year!

#1 Harry Potter by JK Rowling

Because it fits the mood!

Is it really a surprise that I chose Harry Potter to reread on Christmas? Rereading this enchants you and makes you forget everything around you – whenever I reread this, I feel like I’m living in the Wizarding World and I’m completely soaked up. So yes, I will be reading this for the thousandth time!

#2 The Penderwicks on Gardam Street by Jeanne Birdsall

The Penderwicks are the series for me that turn back time, make me relive my childhood. I love to listen to the audiobook cozy in my bed with a cup of tea to warm my hands and just laugh at all the funny scenes and think how easy and nice my life was back then, when I went out to play every afternoon and never had to worry about a thing…

#3 Silver by Kerstin Gier

Reading Silver is so precious for me that Christmas time would be the absolute best moment to start reading again. Unfortunately, I reread it last month which means I won’t get to this year!

#4 The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare

It feels like yesterday desperately waiting for my dad to come home with the book and then not being approachable for two days because I wasn’t able to put down the book. I really want to reread The Dark Artifices this Christmas as it’s my favorite series by Cassie Clare!

#5 The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

It was exactly one year ago when I read The Lunar Chronicles and I absolutely devoured this series. This series reminds me of Winter – the season – (also because of the title?!) and so I’m really thinking about rereading it this upcoming holiday season.

#6 My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows and Brodi Ashton

I only once read My Lady Jane and I really believe it’s time to laugh out at every page all over again. This book is literally the funniest I have ever read and I love to read humorous books during Christmas, to match my mood and generally to not have to worry but just be happy. So yes, this might be it, who knows?

#7 Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Is there really any time when you can’t read Six of Crows and be enchanted all over again? I don’t think so. It’s been almost one year since I last reread this duology and while I don’t have time for many books this Christmas (thank you, school reads!), I’m seriously thinking about rereading it…

I guess we’ll call it a day now – I won’t have time to read all of them anyways, so that’ll be my list for now! I hope you’re looking forward to Christmas (or the holidays if you’re not celebrating!) just as much as I am! Tell me, what are your favorite holiday reads? Feel free to comment!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, Harry Potter is super Christmassy!!!!! And, oh, you really must read some of her other series! I loved the Mortal Instruments, but from my point of view, she has really grown as a writer, seeing that the Mortal Instruments were her first series!
My favorite series of hers is The Dark Artifices because it touched me more and it’s deeper!
      Happy reading!

    1. Exactly! I adore the Penderwicks, I’ve been loving them since I was five years old and I’ve never stopped reading them haha!
My favorite is The Penderwicks on Gardam Street because I love the whole Iantha situation and their rescue mission! But I also really love the Rosalind – Tommy drama and Jane’s play! It’s just everything combined and then the atmosphere at home! It’s just sad that Jeffrey doesn’t play a big role because he’s the best! (I was obviously rooting for Skye and Jeffrey from the start, but it sadly didn’t happen 😦 )
      Which one is your favorite?
      Happy reading!
