First Impressions: If We Were Villains

Surprise: I’m out of my reading slump! It wasn’t a big one, but I was slightly worried about myself. But now that I started M.L.Rio’s If We Were Villains, there’s no need for that anymore. Here are my first thoughts!

I’m already fifty pages in and let me tell you this: it’s excellent. I love the mysterious atmosphere and the continuous urge I have wanting to know what happens next. It features seven university students who want to become actors. When one of them is found dead, they have to convince themselves and the police that they’re not the ones to blame – all while the roles spill into real life.

The writing is amazing, there’s a mixture of pure dialogue and Shakespeare quoting and normal book style and I love that! I haven’t read anything by Shakespeare or went to a play (it would definetely be cooler if I knew any of the quotes haha), but I love how they fit into the new English language and how it’s also perfectly incorporated into the content.

The characters are unique, they kind of resemble different movie/theater characters like the villain, the pretty one or something and that’s a perfect match for the book, at least as far as I can tell.

All in all, the book really seems to be great, at least it has a great start so far and so I’ll stop right here and continue reading! Enjoy your day!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.
