TBR 2019 – New Year’s Resolutions

There are a few books that are to be released throughout the new year that I am excited about (read the sequels, read the starters), but there are so many millions of books that I can read this second but haven’t yet. Here’s my list of all the books that are already on the market and that I can’t wait to read!

If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

Enter the players. There were seven of us then, seven bright young things with wide precious futures ahead of us. Until that year, we saw no further than the books in front of our faces.

I got this book for Christmas and I am super super excited to read it! I hope to dive into a great mystery story! One of my favorite bloggers, Kaya, reviewed this on her blog and I couldn’t wait to put it on my Christmas Wishlist!

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around.

First of all, can we all appreciate this cover?! I love this story! The second I read it’s about dreams, I was like “I have to read this book”, because when you read books about dreams, they have an infinite length of imagination, plot and twists!

Also, I don’t often read books with boys as protagonists, so I am really excited!

Legendary by Stephanie Garber

A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

Anyone who has been following my blog knows, that I have wanted to read this book FOR MONTHS! It’s been lying on my TBR shelf for more than five months now, but I just haven’t got around to it yet! But I swear: I can’t wait to continue with the sisters’ stories and Legend!

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

After reading the Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo, I have had the HIGHEST expectations! However, I have heard of various bloggers that this series isn’t as good as the Duology and is quite boring, which I hope it won’t be. Nevertheless I can’t wait what the future will bring concerning Leigh Bardugo and a certain Nikolai…

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.

What a great first sentence! I am actually in the middle of Jane Austen’s world famous classic AND LIKED IT, but for some reason I can’t fathom, stopped. I must say, I’m ashamed of myself, haha. It’s been on my TBR list forever, but every time I wanted to read it, another great book came up.

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing.

Guilty as charged, I am more than 200 pages into this book, but stopped for An Ember in the Ashes. At least I stopped for something worth it. I am very excited to finally finish a book I have heard so many friends and bloggers talk about. This book is seriously a must-read.

A Torch in the Night by Sabaa Tahir

Elias and Laia are running for their lives. After the events of the Fourth Trial, Martial soldiers hunt the two fugitives as they flee the city of Serra and undertake a perilous journey through the heart of the Empire.

I read An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir in November and I was BLOWN AWAY. There were so many plot twists and the end held so many options, I simply can’t wait to dive into Laia’s story again! I have read a lot of opinions concerning the third book, saying it’s not as good as the first, but I really hope that doesn’t involve the second book!

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

They killed my mother.
They took our magic.
They tried to bury us.
Now we rise.

This book has been hyped and hyped all year, which is why I haven’t started reading it yet. Many many books get really hyped up which have disappointed me throughout the years, a little like Truly Devious and Turtles all the way down and so simply because I don’t want to be heavily disappointed, I have not yet read it!

Those are all my books waiting for me at home or patiently in store I can’t wait to read! Have a great New Year’s Eve everyone!

  1. These look awesome! 💓🙌🏼 Admittedly, Pride & Prejudice has been on my TBR forever, as well 😂 It’s one of those books that I should totally read, but I keep putting off!
(My issue is that I’d love to buy a beautiful version of it… 🤔 A pretty cover always encourages me to finish a book!)

    1. Yes, that’s exactly the same with me! It’s a book that every Bookworm should have read just because it’s Jane Austen but there are so many good books and I never get around to it! I saw great great covers at Waterstones on Regent Street and I thought about getting a great version of Pride and Prejudice, but they were so expensive 🤯❤️
