WWW Wednesday

Two weeks to go and then school is finally over for this year (and almost the year itself, ugh.). Anyways, here’s my current reading situation!

#1 What are you currently reading?

If you are wondering why I am still reading this: I took a break and read something different and now I’ll get back to it again: The Mitford Murders by Jessica Fellowes – and the story is developing beautifully! The characters and the historical London atmosphere are wonderful and I’m excited to finally be able to finish it!

The time has come: we officially started reading this in German class (I’m attending an international school in Germany, if you were wondering!). Just to freak you out: this drama by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe has not one, not two, but THREE PROLOGUES?! I know Goethe worked his entire life writing this drama (and it was worth it, it’s every student’s nightmare) and decided it needs three prologues to kick it off.

One to acknowledge the audience, one to remind Goethe himself to get going on writing, and one which has actually got to do with the plot: God in heaven surrounded by his angels and the devil (Mephisto in this book) joining him. They then bet on Faust’s (the protagonist) soul if the devil is able to lure him into mischief. It only gets weirder from here…

#2 What was the last book you read?

I’ve been wanting to read this YA contemporary book for ages and last week, I finally got around to it and was able to finish it today (review to come soon!). I have mixed feelings: it was entertaining and funny, but the plot was super predictable and full of tropes and so I’m not so sure how to feel about it… I’m happy I read it, though, as I now want to marry a prince and live in Scotland. Thanks, that’s a great dream! (I’m just joking btw., if anyone was wondering if I’d lost my mind, but some Princess Diaries childhood still lives on…)

#3 What do you think you’ll read next?

For English class, I’ve decided to go with 1984 by George Orwell instead of Pride and Prejudice for a project, so I’m really looking forward to that! I’ve heard so much and my teacher said I would really enjoy it, so why no!

That’s it – what are you reading at the moment, have you read any of these books? Happy reading!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.
