Today is finally Friday and because I’m celebrating, here’s a cute little entry for a Weekday Meme: First Lines Friday. I will copy the first few lines from a book without giving away the title and will then state my opinion!
Here we go:
The screw through Cinder’s ankle had rusted, the engraved cross marks worn to a mangled circle. Her knuckles ached from forcing the screwdriver into the joint as she struggled to loosen the screw one gritting twist after another. By the time it was extracted far enough for her to wrench free with her prosthetic steel hand, the hairline threads had been stripped clean.
People who read this book probably identified it after the fourth word as it’s the title: I was quoting Marissa Meyer’s Cinder.
I like these staring sentences because they catapult you right into the story without describing one’s average day, one’s work life or suffering for pages before getting to the point. I am very excited to be reading this book as I’ve only heard great things about it from other bloggers and therefore I can’t wait to start reading!!!
I hope you enjoyed this mini-entry and have a great Friday and weekend-to-come!!
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!
