WWW Wednesday

It’s Wednesday again and so without further do: here’s my current reading situation!!

#1 What are you currently reading?

I started reading Leigh Bardugo’s new novel, Ninth House, on Saturday (I haven’t had much time to read, tho!). It started off really nicely, the writing is as exceptional as ever and I was able to click with the story. The plot was a tiny bit confusing, as I am new to all that university language (it was a little weird, to be honest), but as I don’t think a lot of people here are attending elite universities, I guess they will have the same problem. Another confusing yet cool aspect is that it started at the end of the story and then switched to the middle and then to the start, changing time as well as perspective. And that’s a nice touch. I hope I’ll be able to continue soon and really get started as I am only 50 pages in!

#2 What was the last book you read?

A great mystery: Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. The characters, the atmosphere and the plot were my favorite aspects: The protagonist, Audrey Rose, being passionate about forensic medicine was the most phenomenal part! It enabled her to become part of the investigation, alongside her uncle (having a laboratory and studying that particular field of science) and one of his students, Thomas. The discovery of Jack the Ripper was far more spectacular, twisted and suspenseful than expected and that made me happy! And so both the forensic medicine, the intriguing plot and London during the fall made up the perfect spooky and creepy atmosphere for a mystery novel!

#3 What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m considering continuing the Stalking Jack the Ripper series as the ending of book 1 included some hints about the sequel, which were very promising! So I hope to have the time, but it’s exam week next week and so I have to study all the time!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.

  1. This is a lovely and intriguing list! I especially like the sound of Stalking Jack the Ripper as it combines historical fiction and mystery, two genres I love. Good luck with your exams!!!
