It’s Friday, my bestie will sone come over and sleep at my place, we’ve planned a movie night with homemade chocolate souflées (the big upside to having a baking bestie!) and therefore I’m forced to keep this short even though stress and blogging is something very important and annoying we’ve all experienced multiple times. So here’s my favorite tag of the week, Let’s Talk Bookish, hosted by Rukky !

My experience with stress and blogging
When I started blogging, stats were everything for me – I wondered why nobody visited my page even though I poured my heart into every post. I wrote multiple posts a day because I wanted to share everything and had waited for so long to connect with other book lovers. I was sad whenever I didn’t get as many likes as the day before, as many views – pure stress.
Than further down the lane, I wasn’t stressed to have many views but to deliver instead. Whenever I felt tired, sad or unmotivated, I was stressed out because I thought Oh no, I still have to write a post for today. And that simply annoyed me because I knew blogging was something I did for fun and not to be extra stressed apart from school.
My advice and how I’ve tried to improve myself
I haven’t been feeling motivated for the last few weeks and simply stopped writing or only posted once a week – I told myself Stop, this is a hobby. Don’t compare your blog with school/work and most importantly, don’t compare yourself with others. If you’re able to write one post a week while others manage to write five – so be it. Maybe their life isn’t as stressful, maybe they’re super motivated at the moment, you don’t have to stress about that. Focus on yourself and what’s best for you and everyone else will understand because they have all experienced the same thing as well. Take your time to recharge after a stressful time and take a step back from blogging.
That’s it for today: this topic is super important for me because as you can tell, I’ve had my own spoon full of stress and blogging. So tell me, have you also experienced stress and blogging and how did you cope with it? Feel free to comment! Happy reading and enjoy your weekend!
This is a great topic! It’s so hard to manage blogging and stress, for me, I feel like it sometimes falls into the school/work category. But you’re totally right, having fun should be first!! And hehe enjoy the chocolate soufflées!

thanks so much! I totally know what you mean, the blogging falling into the school category was exactly why I didn’t post anything at the beginning of January!
And thanks so much, they were wonderful haha (and sooo easy to make!!)
Happy reading!

I feel like this is a thing that most bloggers can relate to. I used to be really obsessed with my stats, even though I kept telling myself that I didn’t start my bookstagram or blog for followers and likes. But ever since I took a break away from the book community because I felt like I was failing in bookstagram, it came clear to me what my priorities are. There are some people who are trying to earn money and need their blogs to be successful. There are some who are very established because they work so hard for so long behind the beautiful feeds. But I am not one of those. I am only doing this for myself and I don’t need this to be all that defines me. Of course, it’s important to do it for your readers and audience but I think the most important thing is that you are enjoying the process. 🙂

Yes, that is exactly my opinion! I didn’t start this blog to earn money or gain followers, I did it to have a safe and personal space to talk about the literature I loved! Of course, I love my followers and am super thankful, but my top priority is to be happy and not stressed! Happy reading!

I feel you so much, Jane!! I still feel that stress of having to write a post, or missing a day, or “wasting” my weekend by not drafting posts. It’s a struggle, and we’ve always got to remember that we need to chill and take a deep breath. I hope you feel more motivated soon 💖 Happy reading!!

Good advice! I would add…don’t feel pressure to do it every day, instead just create batches of posts and future schedule them which means you only do it when you’re in the mood

Thanks so much! That’s a great advice – I often do that! Sometimes I just write many many posts the whole day because I have a day off/ am sick and sometimes the creativity just flows haha! Happy reading!

Also I would add, find quirky or really interesting photos or quotes that are unusual and use those when you can’t be bothered to space things out a bit, that way you keep things going but it requires less effort.
