Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie

While I was really excited to read Agatha Christie and discover her famous detective, Hercule Poirot, I didn’t think I’d actually enjoy it when I first started reading it. I thought it would be too old-fashioned and too complicatedly written for me to enjoy – but no: it’s the easiest-to-read writing style I have ever witnessed and even though you sometimes notice that the characters are from a different time period, it was still a magnificent read!

Hot Apple Cider: a book that got you a bit hot under the collar

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

This story was so forceful and I was so emotionally connected to this series that I couldn’t help but enjoy every second of it and reread this book and love this series eternally.

While I love every series by Cassandra Clare, The Dark Artifices is by far my favorite because the topics are way deeper and emotionally draining than in the other series…

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate: a book that felt like a warm hug

Dream a little dream – The Silver trilogy by Kerstin Gier

I reread this trilogy in October and I couldn’t have picked a better moment! I was super stressed and while reading this, I was enchanted and entranced by the story and the wonderful lovely characters.

The simile of a warm hug actually fits perfect because I forgot everything around me and just focused on the story and loved it endlessly!

Maple Pecan Latte: a book you enjoyed that was hard to get into

iBoy by Kevin Brooks

I had to read this for school last year and the first thirty pages were super weird. I was extremely annoyed because I didn’t want to waste any time reading a crappy book (and the first pages are very hard to get into). But after a while, the story got deeper and deeper and was super exciting to follow.

It tells the story of a boy who’s been hit in his head with an iPhone and then has superhero powers because he’s able to access the Internet through his head… And so on…

London Fog: a vanilla character

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

To be quite honest, I’ve never heard of the term vanilla character and so I’m only assuming that it refers to a character I didn’t like.

Well, here’s Adam. I absolutely loved all of Maggie Stiefvater’s other characters (especially Blue and Gansey), but Adam just drove me crazy. He didn’t have anything lovable to say about him and just his presence was annoying for me and I absolutely disliked this character.

Hot Buttered Rum: a book that was velvety smooth to read

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows and Brodi Ashton

This is literally one of my absolute favorite books ever! The humor is absolutely thrilling to read, the characters are to die for and the plot is nothing but spectacular!

It’s been a year since I read this gem, but I really have to reread it soon and relive that great story!

Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew: a character whose temperament is icy cold

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (especially Winter)

Queen Levana is one of the most temperamental characters I have ever witnessed. I mean her veil says it all, doesn’t it? She cares about absolutely no one except her crown and legacy and she makes a kick-ass villain because of it! (We do get some more insight to her past in the finale book!)

I can only recommend this series to everyone who loves YA Fantasy because it’s filled with suspense, laughter and lovely characters!

Salted Caramel Mocha: a book you’re salty about

The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth

I read Carve the Mark a couple of years ago and absolutely adored the story! I could wait for the sequel to come out because I imagined it to have an epic showdown – however, this book absolutely disappointed me and I am more than just a little bit salty about it.

I read 150 pages of it and absolutely nothing happened. Just a little negotiation but besides that: nothing. And I was super disappointed and didn’t finish it because of that lousy start.

Honey Bee Latte: a character who is sweet

Hermione from Harry Potter

Could there be any character better suited for this one than Hermione (especially in the first book when she hears Ron making fun of her). Besides being a little know-it-all, she’s one of the most sensible and caring characters to have ever walked this planet!

Gingerbread Latte: a character you’d take home for Christmas

Cath – Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I never thought I’d enjoy this book as much as I did because I’m not a YA contemporary fan, but Cath was so relatable and honest, I would immediately take her home for Christmas.

Part of why I liked this book was because it tells the truth about college: I’m not yet in college, but I’m nervous about everything changing and not knowing anyone and while I don’t have social anxiety, I wouldn’t say I’m the most confident person around…
