Goodreads Choice Awards 2019 – my votes, TBR’s and favorites!

The best books of 2019 – the 11th annual Goodreads choice award polls are open and more than 1 Million people already voted, me included! (opening round ends in three days, if you haven’t voted yet!). Anyways, here are my votes, books that are nominated and I’ve always wanted to read and some other favorites!

Fiction

I didn’t vote as I haven’t read any of the nominated books, but Margaret Atwood’s book is one of my TBR’s. I haven’t read The Handmaid’s Tale yet, but I’ve wanted for ages as Margaret Atwood played a special role in a series I loved as a child and so it’s kind of mandatory for me!

Historical Fiction

Another book on my TBR – everyone seemed to adore this book and I’ve seen many many bloggers state that this was by far one of their favorite reads that year. So, as I, sadly, give into the hype and become one of those readers, I have to read it.

Fantasy

My vote: Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. I know I haven’t actually finished the whole book, but I loved what I’ve read so far and it’s Leigh Bardugo and as a fan, I have to vote for her!

Priory

The Priory of the Orange Tree was one of the hyped books a couple of months ago and it felt like I was the only blogger in the book community that hadn’t read it. So, naturally, I have to read it at some point, far behind the rest, as always.

red scrolls of magic

I’m not someone that reads “supplemental material” and so I haven’t read this series, but I’m still happy it exists. There are two types of fans: the ones who read the original series over and over and love it with all their heart and the ones that read all the extra series. I’m type number one, but still like the idea of a Magnus and Alec series!

Romance

My vote: The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. I normally don’t read romance, but this was a comedy one and so I took it with me as a beach read – and it served!

Young Adult Fiction

38926328

My vote: Five Feet Apart – this book was magnificently moving, I cried and I didn’t forget.

39893545

The sequel of Truly Devious has been on my TBR for way too long. I wasn’t satisfied with Truly Devious’s ending and because so many bloggers wrote that they had the same problem but that the sequel is so much better and actually mentions the murder (unlike the ending!), I’ve decided to give this series another chance.

My school gave me this book as last year’s end of term gift, but they didn’t realize I haven’t read One of Us is Lying. Well, good for me, because today one of my friends brought it to school for me because she remembered me talking about it – how sweet!

The Hate U Give was life changing for me and so On the come up is definetely a book I wish to read some time soon!

Young Adult Fantasy and Science Fiction

36538785

My vote: Queen of Air and Darkness. This book was an epic finale to an intense trilogy! I am a huge Shadowhunters fan, but The Dark Artifices is by far my favorite series, I couldn’t love all of the LA institute students more and just everything about this skiers is magical!

38237340

Not being able to pick The Wicked King was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. This was such an incredible sequel to The Cruel Prince, with many more intrigues, political aspects and hidden intentions and I honestly can’t wait for The Queen of Nothing.

39804936

I never finished King of Scars because, to be honest, the characters were a total throwback and Nikloai and Nina are everything, but the story wasn’t as gripping as I hoped it would be. I do think that the showdown will be even more intense and I’ve heard many people being shocked about the ending and so I will definitely have to continue reading this, but it hasn’t been one of my favorites and also not on my priority list..

This book is on my priority TBR list. I’ve been searching for some more great YA fantasy series lately and after loving The Lunar Chronicles, I’ve come to the conclusion that another retelling might not be such a bad idea!

37632682. sy475

I read Scythe back when nobody talked about it which was a couple of years ago and I’ve been wanting to continue reading this series ever since. But I’m afraid I don’t remember the most important facts and will therefore have to do a little checkup on the plot and characters!

42505366

I recently asked my reader which mystery/horror book I should definitely read and what many suggested was Wilder Girls. And the plot sounds really intriguing – so maybe soon!

That’s it – I didn’t vote for every category, but simply because I haven’t read any of the books or don’t desire to! Happy reading and go vote!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.

  1. We really do have a whole lot of YA fantasy in common 😁😁😁 And when you mention that you are the first category type of fan who reads the original series over and over again, I couldn’t help but laugh because I’m totally the second type… I’ll read every short story and spinoff series I can find if I like the characters 😂😂😂😂
I hope you enjoy all the books you have on your tbr !!!!

  2. For some categories it was so hard to vote, since there are so many good ones!
Every time this comes around I realize how many new releases I haven’t read (yet)..

  3. This is SUCH a good idea!! Until the nominations came out I didn’t quite realize how few books I’ve actually read this year lol😂😂 I think I’m the first type because I’ve highkey been fighting the urge to reread The Infernal Devices even though I STILL haven’t finished Lord of Shadows, smh. I really hope you enjoy all of these!💜💜💜
