Dream a little dream – Review

It’s been too long since I last read Kerstin Gier’s Silver Trilogy. Everyone probably knows her because of the Rubyred Trilogy, but let me show you why Silver is so much better! Here are my thoughts after years of first reading it!

Synopsis:

Liv Silver has never spent much time in one place – with her mom being a professor, she has always been on the move. But when her mother tells her and her sister that they’ll move in together with her new boyfriend in London, her whole life is about to change. Suddenly, she has a new patchwork family consisting of her mother’s boyfriend, his 17 year old twins, Grayson and Florence, and their cat. When she discovers a secret door in her dream and walks into Grayson’s dream, she encounters his and his friends in the middle of the night at the Highgate Cemetery performing a ritual. Suddenly, she finds herself in the middle of a game with Grayson and his three friends, a demon and other people’s dreams…

My thoughts:

There are not many books for me which I immensely enjoy rereading over and over, but this is one of them. The Silver Trilogy is my safe space and comfortable read because I love and cherish every single aspect of this trilogy. The book is just as phenomenal as when I first read it, far more gripping than Kerstin Gier’s other series, but sadly not as popular.

The plot is wonderful. There are so many different aspects that come together to form this book and every single of is perfectly carried out. There is the mysterious game Grayson and his friends are playing that involves raising a demon – but they’re only playing it because of suspicious circumstances which look like the demon is real. Another aspect are the dreams: you can enter other’s people’s dreams and therefore have unlimited access to their deepest thoughts and wishes. Not that extraordinary are the aspects about moving to London and gaining a new patchwork family, attending a new private school and finding new friends in her new brother and his group!

The characters might even be my favorite part of this book. The protagonist, Liv, is everything I love about a character: she is smart and funny, loves riddles and doesn’t hesitate when things are about to get creepy. The boy group of Grayson, Henry, Arthur and Jasper are a GREAT addition, absolutely hilarious and you wish you had Grayson as an older brother.

The atmosphere and writing are the cherry on top of everything else. This book is so incredibly funny and humorous, you wouldn’t even need the suspense and everything. Kerstin Gier manages to include jokes, word-plays and fantasy into her world which I have never witnessed to be done so phenomenally great! London alone is one reason to love this book, but the way she describes and incorporates it is magical!

Recommendable: for everyone who loves to dream, who loves a gripping plot and heart-warming characters!

I cannot emphasize how much I love this trilogy. Everything makes this special and rereading this was totally worth it! Happy reading!
