Top Ten Tuesday: auto-buy authors

It’s Tuesday again, which means it’s time for my favorite tag – I feel like that’s my introduction every week, but I simply love to create lists and Top Ten’s. Today’s topic are auto-buy authors, which basically are your favorite authors, which books you buy without looking at the story line – you buy them because the authors are great writers and because you trust their books to be amazing. Here’s my list!

#1 Leigh Bardugo

After reading about today’s topic, she was literally the first author I thought about. I’ve read all of her books, I started with Six of Crows and ended with Ruin and Rising – and every book, no exception, amazed me. I love her writing style, her brilliant characters and her creative story lines. I’m super excited about Ninth House; I added it to my TBR list without looking at it twice, but I’m sure it will blow me away, just like the others have.

#2 Cassandra Clare

I started, without ever having heard of Shadowhunters or Cassandra Clare, with Lady Midnight four years ago and I haven’t stopped ever since. She is one of the most impressive young authors I know and I love her very much. Her stories never cease to amaze me and her newest book (beside from the short stories) Queen of Air and Darkness was no exception. I’ve read all of her series and I will pick up Chain of Gold no matter how bad it could be rated or how many people say she should stop writing about Shadowhunters and should move on – she obviously shouldn’t!

#3 Victoria Aveyard

I read her Red Queen Series, and I would read any other book after reading what she has to say. She is one of my favorite writer because I immensely enjoy her writing style, she has a way of so simply creating strong and powerful sentences, like Leigh Bardugo, and I fell for that. Moreover, not only her sentences are powerful, she tells powerful stories of rebellion, revolution and war and I am sure that her future works will be amazing as well.

#4 John Green

Even though I had a lot of things to say about some of his books that weren’t particularly flattering, I will still read all of his future books, simply because I’m interesting what stories he’ll write and the worlds and tragedies he’s going to come up with. Because if he writes another story like Hazel Grace’s, then I’ll be sure to tear up. Better get ready for that.

#5 JK Rowling

The reason JK Rowling only ranks as number 5, is because I’m not entirely sure I would read everything she writes. She has published adult crime under a false name, if I’m not mistaken, and I haven’t read that either and I don’t think I’m ever going to read all the extra stories such as Tales of Beedle the Bard or Fantastic Beasts and where to find them. But I would and will read any new real book about Harry Potter, his sons or Hermione as Minister of Magic.

#6 Holly Black

Even though I only read two of her books, I won’t hesitate to buy another one when I see her name on the cover because she really impressed me with The Folk of the Air series. She has a really impressive way of creating confusion and intrigues, fake loyalties and mystery. I have never been more unsure of any character and their loyalty and whether they will turn out to be bad or good than I am with Cardan. And I love that, having a complicated relationship with a character and I’m super excited for Queen of Nothing. And any future works, for that matter.

#7 Marissa Meyer

I have only read one of the series she’s written, the Lunar Chronicles, but the other ones are on my TBR and I’m positive that I will enjoy them as much. She’s definitely the author that made me laugh out loud the most and which made me smile almost every page. Her characters are beautifully created and each one is humorous and fabulous their own way.

#8 Kerstin Gier

I started reading Kerstin Gier when I was approximately 11 years old and I still love her books. To be honest, I will probably never read the Ruby Red trilogy EVER again – because it’s not for my age. But Silver, her not so popular series is brilliant. To die for. And because a new series could have the same potential, she’s definitely a auto-buy author for me.

#9 Brittany Cavallaro

As a fellow Holmes & Watson fan and a huge admirer of their ancestors Charlotte & Jamie, I’m super positive that I would buy any book if I just spottet her name. She invented some pretty amazing detective stories and maybe she’ll come up with another one, it doesn’t even have to be linked to 221B Baker Street. I’ll buy it nevertheless.

#10 Katie Cotugno

Usually, I’m not the biggest contemporary and coming-of-age fan, but the two books I read written by Katie Cotugno really impressed me. She writes great feminist stories and I loved all of the characters she created. I’ll never be a bookworm that only reads YA contemporary because that would drive me crazy, but if she were to write another book like that, I wouldn’t hesitate one second, but buy it in an instant.
