Top Ten Tuesday: Characters!

Today’s topic is a freebie about characters, so I decided to come up with ten different features or questions all about characters!!! Here we go!

#1 Basic: Who is your favorite protagonist?

Emma Carstais from The Dark Artifices! She was the first bad-ass female character I read about and I feel absolutely in love with her strength, courage and the will to survive and to beat the rest. She is an amazing character and such an inspiring female. I’d say I loved her most in Lady Midnight as she was the most emancipated in the first book and was kind of Julian obsessed in the others, but I love them as a couple, so that’s fine with me.

#2 Who is your favorite side kick?

Definetly Grayson from Silver. If anyone is looking for an adorable step sister and brother relationship, this is the one. Grayson is the most loving older brother I have ever read about (except Julian Blackthorn, who would apparently burn down whole cities for his siblings, which is, no, not weird at all…). I would call him a side kick as he is not the main protagonist, however still plays a major role in the whole plot and couldn’t be erased from the story. Definetely go read Silver, especially because the characters are pure gold!

#3 Which character’s features would you like to see in yourself?

I’d like to be as smart and wise as Hermione. I want to be that friend (I have only witnessed this in Harry Potter, but anyways) that can always recite random knowledge and can recommend books for any occasion. That would be super awesome.

#4 Is there a character you absolutely can’t stand?

Adam in The Raven Cycle. I can’t really say anything else about him except that he annoyed the hell out of me, especially the way he behaved after he and Blue broke up. He was one of the main reasons, the incredibly slow pace included, why I didn’t finish this series, even tho I was very eager to know how the story actually ends. I normally don’t have characters I truly dislike, only features here and there and then obviously the villains which only exist to be hated – except for Adam. He is the worst.

#5 Which character’s death do you mourn the most?

My first choice would obviously (just kidding haha, I’m just very basic) be Fred Weasley. Simply because the Weasley twins were the whole joy of Harry Potter and the ones who made the books special with their humor. Scenes were so much better when Fred and George were around and I can’t even think about poor George out there alone running the sweet shop without his best friend. Has anyone seen the pics on Instagram with the graves or anything – that’s terrible!

My second choice would be Matthias Helvar in Crooked Kingdom because I cried so hard when I read that chapter. My forever favorite quote will be: May Djel watch over you until I can once more. I think that sentence is so beautiful and pure and Nina and Matthias were perfect for each other and seeing Nina mourn in King of Scars and getting over her loss is one of the most painful things I’ve ever read.

#6 Which character development was most painful to watch?

This may seem random, but I couldn’t stand Cho Chang during Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. She was quite all right in Goblet of Fire, but then she just developed into a drama queen. I totally understand that she’s sad because of Cedric and that is NOT the reason I don’t like her. I simply think that she totally overreacted when she thought that Harry was into Hermione and then everything that followed just made it worse. I just don’t understand why Harry was into her and how he fell in love with her in the first place.

#7 Are there any characters you shipped, but that didn’t end up together?

I know I only read the first book and so I not in a position to actually state my opinion because things can change. But in Throne of Glass it looks like (and ends that way I think), that Celaena develops feelings for Dorian and not Chaol. And everyone keeps saying that Dorian gets better and better, but I just thought: why not Chaol? I don’t know, I guess I have to finish the series first and then we’ll see…

#8 Which character makes the most bad-ass villain?

I kind of want to say Voldemort because he is bad-ass. JK Rowling created a villain that was most utterly frightening, but also made him funny. Not in a jokes-kind-of-way funny, but the whole I can touch you now scene, where he duelled Harry and said that manners and rules must be observed and where he said that he was disappointed in his death eaters – I loved that scene. So yeah, she managed to create a bad-ass villain.

#9 Is there any character which is bad, but you kind of still liked?

I’m not going to spoil anything, because that twist is worth waiting for, but the Red Queen villain killed me. The character is one of the most twisted I have ever experienced and even though he did some pretty nasty stuff, I feel bad for the character and after reading Broken Throne, I had some hopes…

#10 Which literary character is most likely to be you twin?

Yes, it’s another Jane from My Lady Jane. Because she is super similar to me. She would rather spend hours reading at home than, in her case, marry somebody she doesn’t even know and she doesn’t waste hours on appearance to impress boys like her other fellow maids. In my case, I love spending cozy, lazy evenings at home reading or watching Netflix, rather than going out at night and party every Friday. So she is me, just in another time.

That are all of my questions, this was super fun, feel free to answer them as well! Enjoy your day!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.

  1. Wow… I kind of agree with almost everything you said and it makes me so happy that we have such similar tastes…
Fred and Matthias’s deaths killed me too… I was bawling my eyes out…
The villain in Red Queen is probably the only reason I read the whole series, because I didn’t particularly enjoy the writing…
Only thing we disagree is I adore Dorian 😍😍😍

Dorian does have a good character arc, but I have to admit I loved him from page 1.. so I’m a bit biased 😜😜😜
But I would surely recommend the rest of the series.. it’s my all time favorite 😍😍😍
