Top Ten Tuesday: Books from my favorite genre

It’s Tuesday again and that obviously means Top Ten Tuesday! This is a super fun topic and my favorite genre is YA fantasy, so here we go!

#1 Harry Potter by JK Rowlin

This is very obvious, isn’t it? Well, I guess we’ll be seeing this on almost every blog this week. But seriously, Harry Potter is just a series you can read any time and can enjoy even after reading it three times. And the universe and also fan community are so awesome, you just get carried away.

#2 The Dark Artifices by Cassandra Clare

What can I say, The Dark Artifices was the first book I read written by Clare and it opened a completely new world for me, basically ya fantasy. These books were just so much more sophisticated and intense than the middle grade books I’d read up until then and so this series will always be special because it introduced me to my favorite genre.

#3 Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

The Six of Crows Duology (so Crooked Kingdom included) is just pure perfection because the whole series is on point. I recently reread this series and holy crap, it was just as awesome as ever. The atmosphere, characters, writing and plot are so unique and it’s basically a work of art.

#4 Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

The Red Queen series is also a series I have been following for years, waiting for the new books up until last spring when War Storm was released. This story just carried me away because of its complex structure including politics, rebellion, uprisings and romance. Indication of greatness: I hate short stories and avoid them at all costs, but devoured Broken Throne!!!

#5 The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

The Lunar Chronicles (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress and Winter) is a series that I only discovered last year but absolutely fell in love. People who don’t enjoy reading often ask me how I find reading funny and entertaining and this is just the perfect example why. This series is the most hilarious I have ever read, literally. I love Marissa Meyer.

#6 The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

This is another series that really helped me developed my taste and discover ya fantasy some more. I read it right after finishing Lady Midnight, which had just been published, and went from Cassandra Clare to Victoria Aveyard, Leigh Bardugo and Holly Black. So yeah, I’m very grateful for this funny and exciting story.

#8 Silver by Kerstin Gier

The not so popular series Silver by Kerstin Gier, is, in my opinion, thousand times better than Ruby Red. It’s funnier, cleverer, the characters are to die for and you literally wish you were Liv the entire series, the ideas are well constructed and developed and this trilogy is just amazing. It’s something so different to other series because it connects aspects from contemporary such as patchwork, school and home-drama with fantasy aspects such as the demon hunting game and the crazy dreams…

#9 The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

This trilogy, with only The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King released, had me hooked from page one. There are sadly not many series where I have no clue what’s going to happen next which is immensely sad, but this is one of them! I could never imagine Jude’s next move or how Cardan turns out to be at the end (still wondering haha) and so this definitely is one of my favorites!

#10 Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Shadow and Bone, the first series written by Leigh Bardugo, is a series I read only recently but which made me fall in love with Leigh Bardugo even more. I love her writing style and the stories she comes up with. Furthermore, her characters are everything, I mean, Nikolai, Kaz, Inej and Nina? Masterpieces of literary characters!

Those are my absolute favorite ya fantasy series!!!! I hope you enjoyed this post and have a great day!

I'm a huge fan of Draco Malfoy, I love scones and tea time, I don't like horror movies and obviously I'm a huge book nerd.
