April Wrap-Up and May TBR

I’m sorry, I’m kind of late, it’s already the third of May, but it’s been a really stressful week and so this is the first time I’ve had time since the start of the month… Here’s my wrap up for last month’s reading progress and this month’s forecast!

April Wrap-Up

The first book I read last month was the finale story in the Charlotte Holmes series, A Question of Holmes by Brittany Cavallaro. I have to admit, this book was way better than The Case for Jamie. It had the better story, had more suspense and mystery and the characters were back on track to their original greatness. I’d thought that this book would actually be worse than the previous one because the story was finished for me, but this was a really great ending and I’m glad I read it.

The next book I read in April was If We Were Villains by ML Rio which turned out to be my favorite book of the year (so far!). I can’t talk about it enough, this book was simply epic. I know probably everyone thinks okay, that’s enough, we get that you like this book, but it’s genuinely the best book I’ve read this year and I can really recommend it to everyone.

I fortunately had to read Kevin Brooks’s iBoy for school which I hated for the first thirty pages but then extremely enjoyed. This is really one of the books you have to get into at first but really give them a chance and I’m glad I gave it one and not threw it away after a few pages like many of my classmates did haha.

The last book I finished was Love and Intrigue by Friedrich Schiller. It was a school read as well, but it’s actually really great. It kind of has a Shakespeare vibe and I really enjoyed that. There’s really nothing more to say to that, I probably wouldn’t have read it in my free time, but for a school book, it was a five star read.

May TBR

The first book for this month would be finishing my current Harry Potter reread marathon. I’m currently almost finished with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and afterwards I have to decide between reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban or Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. So expect to see a lot of Harry Potter for the next couple of weeks.

Another major book I’m planning to read is Victoria Aveyard’s Broken Throne which will be out May 7!!! I can’t wait to read this book and even though I actually despise short stories, I never – not even from my favorite series – read the short stories that authors often publish afterwards, but I really have to read this one, I don’t know why.

The last book I’m hoping to get to by the end of the month is A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab. I’ve started it already, but have laid it aside temporarily for Harry Potter. The first few chapters were a little boring, but because it’s a trilogy, I’ll definitely give it another go and hope I’ll enjoy it!
