Spring Cleaning Book Tag

I have waited soooo long for spring to arrive and now it has already been here for a couple of days and I haven’t done this tag yet? What?? Anyways: enjoy!

#1 The struggle of getting started: a series/book you struggle to start with because of its size

This one!!! I can’t believe I can call myself a Sherlock fan if I haven’t even read this collection yet! Ok, I’m a fan because I read A Study in Scarlet and binge-watched Sherlock rewatch it every couple of months. And, A Study in Charlotte also counts as fangirling, right? Yes, it’s pathetic.

#2 Cleaning out the closet: a book/ series you want to unhaul

I’m so sorry, but I have to get rid of you at some point! I already said goodbye to Warriors last year and this series will be next. It just grew too big, it occupies one whole shelf unit of mine and I really grew out of this brilliant series.

#3 Opening windows and letting fresh air in: a book that was refreshing

When I read this book back in September, The Cruel Prince felt extremely refreshing! The story was just completely different from all the other books, Cardan and Jude were very very different and the story just completely overwhelmed me!

#4 Washing out the sheets: a scene you wish you could rewrite

I really enjoyed the general story line of Truly Devious and I’m also really excited to be reading the sequel, but what was that ending??? In my opinion, the ending was far too focused on the romance part and the helicopter that there was absolutely no focus at all on the MURDER STEVIE JUST SOLVED. I mean, hello??? The whole book features this girl solving the murder nobody had solved in over a century and when she finally solves the case, the helicopter of her crush’s parents (correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t remember all the details, it’s been a while) flies in and everything else is suddenly forgotten?

#5 Throwing out unnecessary knick-knacks: a book in a series you didn’t think was necessary

I’m not referring to a specific book in The Raven Cycle, it’s just that this series was so extremely dragging and slow that one book could have easily been skipped, some passages shortened and then three books would have been sufficient.

#6 Polishing doorknobs: a book that had a clean finish

The Smell of Other People’s Houses is one of those books where everything has a meaning. Every action, every person and every conversation is relevant for the ending and plays a significant role in the story. And since everyone had a connection at the end and everything suddenly made sense, this is the perfect fit!

#7 Reaching to dust the fan: a book that tried too hard to relay a certain message

For some sad reason, I didn’t like Geekerella and therefore also didn’t finish this book (mainly because Queen of Air and Darkness was delivered that day, but whatever). I just thought that the Cinderella aspect was a little too much, the mother behaved unrealistically and the sisters were just too much. I understand why the author wrote these characters that way, but they were just too artificial for me to enjoy.

#8 The tiring yet satisfying finish: a series that was tiring but satisfying to get through

Please don’t get me wrong – I love Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen Series, but I had a really hard time reading King’s Cage and was also really relieved when I finally finished War Storm (mainly because I was speculating about the ending).
